Ovens longitudinal reversion tests in accordance with ISO 2505 / EN 743

The longitudinal reversion test (ISO 2505 / EN 743) evaluates the dimensional stability of thermoplastic pipes at elevated temperatures. A pipe section is measured, then placed in a hot air oven at a specified temperature for a defined period. After cooling, the change in length is determined. The percentage of shrinkage (or elongation) indicates the pipe’s resistance to thermal reversion.

BayerteQ forced air ovens are engineered to deliver the accurate and uniform heating conditions required for longitudinal reversion tests on thermoplastic pipes in full compliance with ISO 2505 and EN 743. These tests are essential for determining the dimensional stability of plastic piping systems, ensuring long-term performance and quality under elevated temperature exposure.

Built with durability and precision in mind, each oven features a robust cold-rolled steel exterior finished with an antibacterial powder coating that resists wear while maintaining a hygienic surface. The stainless steel inner chamber with its rounded corner design allows for easy cleaning and long-term resistance against heat and corrosion, while adjustable shelves provide flexibility for different pipe sizes and multiple samples.

To support reliable and repeatable testing, the ovens are equipped with a double-layer glass observation window and an airtight buckle lock, enabling safe and clear monitoring of specimens throughout the test cycle. The advanced PID temperature controller with LED display ensures precise regulation and stability, while the integrated over-temperature protection system safeguards both operator and equipment.

By combining compliance with international standards, robust construction, and intelligent control systems, BayerteQ forced air ovens offer laboratories and manufacturers a dependable solution for quality assurance and research. Whether used in production testing or independent certification, they provide the confidence and consistency required for today’s demanding plastics industry.

BT WR Series High-Temperature Forced Air Ovens for Pressure Testing

The BayerteQ BT WR Series ovens are specifically engineered to perform internal pressure tests on plastic pipe samples at temperatures exceeding 100 °C, where conventional test chambers are no longer sufficient. By combining robust construction with advanced safety features, these ovens provide a controlled and reliable environment for evaluating the hydrostatic strength and long-term performance of thermoplastic piping systems under extreme conditions.

A fully water-resistant inner chamber ensures that the oven can safely withstand accidental leaks or even full sample bursts without compromising its structure or functionality. To support demanding test setups, each unit is equipped with integrated access ports that connect directly to an external pressure cabinet. Quick-connect inlets are mounted on the oven’s top panel, linked via stainless steel braided hoses to corresponding quick-connect outlets inside the chamber. This configuration enables secure, efficient connection of pipe samples, with stainless steel fittings and hoses provided on both ends.

All components exposed to water and pressure, including hoses and connectors, are fabricated from high-grade stainless steel, guaranteeing long service life, corrosion resistance, and full compliance with hydrostatic testing requirements. A special bottom plate with drainage system allows excess water to be safely discharged, further reinforcing the oven’s ability to handle leakage events without damage.

Ovens Standards and Testing Applications

The BT WR Series follows the ISO 1167 methodology for determining the resistance of plastics pipes to internal pressure, while extending the temperature range beyond the conventional 100 °C limit. This makes the ovens particularly suitable for testing advanced thermoplastics such as crosslinked polyethylene (PEX, ISO 15875), polypropylene (PP-RCT, ISO 15874), and fluoropolymers like PVDF (ISO 10931), where performance evaluation often requires test temperatures of 110 °C, 120 °C, or even 134 °C.

In addition, the ovens support long-term strength assessment in accordance with ISO 9080 (extrapolation of hydrostatic strength at elevated service temperatures) and are compatible with North American methodologies such as ASTM D1598 and ASTM D2837, both of which allow testing at high temperatures to establish long-term hydrostatic design bases.

In summary, the BayerteQ BT WR Series combines robust mechanical design, water-resistant safety engineering, and compliance with international standards to provide laboratories and manufacturers with a reliable solution for high-temperature pressure testing of plastic pipes. These ovens ensure accurate, reproducible results under the most demanding testing conditions, making them indispensable for quality assurance and research in the plastics piping industry.
