Compression Standards Series Overview
The Bayerteq Compression Tester is purpose-built for evaluating the compressive performance of thermoplastic and thermosetting materials. Unlike Universal Testing Machines, which can perform tensile, shear, and peel testing, this system is specialized exclusively in compression-based testing methods.
It provides precise measurements of critical properties such as compressive strength, compressive modulus, stress-strain behavior under load, long-term creep deformation, ring stiffness, and ring flexibility.
This dedicated system is ideal for testing plastic pipes, fittings, profiles, foams, and other components subjected to compressive forces. With its application-focused design, it serves as a reliable solution for quality inspection, product development, and long-term performance evaluation in the plastics industry.
Engineered with advanced technology, the GALAXY CT Series combines robust construction with the powerful BT measurement and control software. This ensures high precision, intelligent operation, and long-term durability, delivering an efficient and user-friendly testing experience for compression-specific applications.
We offer our Compression Testers in several sizes and force classes, ranging from 10 kN up to 300 kN, and with vertical test spaces from 900 mm up to 3000 mm, ensuring the right configuration for every application.
Applications
Compression testers are the industry standard for evaluating the structural behavior and long-term durability of plastic pipes, fittings, and materials. With high accuracy and robust construction, they are ideally suited for:
Key Features
System Design & Safety
The BT Compression Series has been engineered for precision and reliability in dedicated compression testing:
BT Software – Intelligent Control & Data Management
The in-house developed BT Software is a central component of the Compression Standards Series. It is tailored specifically for compression, ring stiffness, and creep testing workflows, providing compliance with ISO, ASTM, and EN methods.
Closed-Loop Control & Test Accuracy
The software supports closed-loop control in all relevant modes:
Zeroing functions remove initial specimen stresses, while high-speed controllers ensure precise capture of load-deflection curves, creep curves, and modulus data.
User Interface & Operation
Data Management & Reporting
The Bayerteq BT Compression Standards Series provides a dedicated solution for compression, pipe stiffness, ring stiffness, and creep ratio testing in full compliance with ISO, ASTM, and EN standards. Combined with the BT Software platform, it offers laboratories and manufacturers a robust, accurate, and easy-to-use testing environment with advanced automation, safety, and reporting functions.
Spherically seated compression platens are designed to test specimens whose surfaces are not perfectly parallel. When a small pre-load is applied, the spherical seat allows the platen to self-align—up to 4°—with the specimen surface, relative to the machine’s loading axis.
Depending on the model, the spherical seat may be built directly into the compression platen or added separately to convert a standard platen into a spherically seated one. The platens feature a hardened surface to prevent deformation during testing and a polished finish to reduce friction between platen and specimen.
For platens with a diameter of 100 mm or greater, a locking mechanism is included to secure the spherical seat, ensuring it remains parallel with the lower platen. In addition, an LVDT deflection sensor can be mounted to enable precise strain measurement.

Measurement of outside-diameter deflection
The tester records OD deflection using the servo motor’s built-in high precision encoder that drives the upper compression plate. As the plate moves, displacement is captured with high precision and transferred automatically to the software. The lower compression plate is fixed to the machine base.

Our universal compression tester is designed to evaluate the performance of plastic pipes and fittings under controlled loads and environmental conditions. By combining precise load application with a fully integrated oven/climate chamber, we can reproduce the stresses that pipes experience in real service — from soil pressure to long-term creep at elevated temperatures.
